Connor's story

The Autism Project has been an amazing source of support for my family for the past 8 years. My son has learned so much by participating in weekly social skills groups, monthly socials, summer programs and fundraisers. He began going to weekly social skills group when he was 10 and has always looked forward to his time there. TAP has always been a place where he can be himself and never fear being excluded. It’s been wonderful to watch his group growup together and form lasting friendships with one another. My son was home from college recently and was so excited for the chance to visit Miss Angel and his friends from group.

The skills and confidence he has gained from being a part of the TAP family are invaluable. The praise and positive feedback he has received from Miss Angel have helped to shape the amazing young man he is today. Once a shy boy with a lot of anger and now a young man who enjoys making friends and is excited about his future as a high school band director. There was a time that I could not imagine he would be comfortable moving away from home to go to college, but he chose a school two hours away and loves being there. I know he has the tools he needs to succeed and TAP played a major role in that.

TAP is a place where children are taught important life skills. They are given opportunities to practice what they learn and staff understand that what works for one kid might not work for the next. They are willing to work with children and their families to see that they succeed to the best of their ability. My son would not be where he is today without TAP. We are so grateful to be a part of the TAP family.
